"Birchen" does not exist yet, and if it does its on a VERY small scale.
Assigning a name to a bird doesn't make it what it looks like. That bird may not ever throw anything that looks like even remotely like it.
I don't want mixed birds and I have some very nice looking Silkies right...

I don't know what to do, they are mostly black with silver or grey on their necks and some on the feathers. I talked to the guy that I bought them from and he said that he had all of his Silkies together, black, white and partridge so I'm assuming that they are just a mix. ??

When I change the bedding, I put down some sevin dust first. All new chickens get dusted with sevin dust just to be safe. If I see anybody scratching etc, I will dust them, but everybody is good, no lice.
You can also apply it right to the chicken, just keep it away from their face...

So I just put the sevin dust in their areas once a month?

We were DQ'd at a show in January because of some brown in the hackles, I was a black silkie, and I was told a slight tinge didn't hurt. YUP! It did!
I am not breeding these guys they will go in the pet pen, but apparently it is really really difficult to get a pure black male for the...

I use 5% sevin dust. It is the same exact ingredient that is in the poultry dust, just half the price.
ETA: Id love to see pictures of the birds when you get them.
I will post them tonight, I really would like some feedback, it would be very helpfull.

If you click the blue "quote" button in the lower right corner of someone's post, it will quote that person so they know you're "talking" to them.
Could you post a picture of the black silkie with the silver hackles? I'd be curious to see it.
Good luck with...
This lady back east has sent me a lot of pics. She seems great, very honest about her birds. That's a great idea, thanks, I will quarantine them just to be on the safe side.
I also was reading that Silkies can get lice, what should I use to prevent it?
Do you know her name. I have talked to a lot of people out here. I am ordering a splash pair from back east, shoud have them within the next couple of weeks. I want a lot more but I just don't know were to find them.
I thought so, my friend just wants some as pets, so I will give those to her. I just love Silkies, but I want to breed them too! I have a buff roo, 8 white chicks that are a few months old, and 3 partridge, 5 black chicks.
I am in Tucson. I have been searching for a breeder in Arizona some...
That's kind of what I thought but I just wanted to make sure. I wonder how those colors came out, just all the different colors being breed together I guess?
I am just starting with Silkies and I have about 17 at this time. I have bought from different people so they won't be related.
I have 3 black that have silver or white down their necks? Would this be considered pet quality? Is there just white, black, partridge, splash, blue and lavender and...
