On one of the Marek's threads here some people were talking about trying them a year or so back. if you put the product name into the search field on the forum you should find the thread and PM people for a follow up if there is no update. Don't have time to check myself ths morning but would be...

Have you tried putting her in a chicken sling/hammock? They can be easily made with every day items as above. Food and water pots can be clipped within reach to the front of the box. The fabric needs to be adjusted, so that the feet can just touch the bottom. Some birds find this beneficial but...

Some strains are pretty devastating, but if we are right and your rescue silkie had it, then that suggests that you have one of the milder strains since you haven't had another incident till now. Much of the problem with Marek's is that it is mostly the hot strains that get diagnosed because it...

It certainly can happen. They may have had a minor outbreak that you didn't notice. It can exhibit as something as minor as an inability to keep one eyelid fully open and that could resolve after a few days and you be unaware it ever happened, especially with silkies having a crest and dark...

Did you also practice strict biosecurity during that time? Infected Marek's dander dust can be carried on clothes, shoes, hair and skin. If you tended your other birds and then tended the chicks you could easily have introduced the Marek's virus to the chicks before the vaccine had time to take...

Those are all very positive signs if it is in fact Marek's. Being bright eyed and keen to eat is one of the anomalies of the disease in the early stages. If it was a vitamin deficiency or botulism or some of the other things that people often suggest, they would not have that bright eyed...

It is not always a death sentence. I have had several survive outbreaks. Of course they will always be prone to subsequent attacks but quality of life can be normal in between, sometimes for years. Keeping them happy and stress free is key and the strain of virus your flock have contracted. The...

Video needs to be uploaded to the likes of You Tube/Vimeo etc and a link to it posted here. Marek's vaccine does not give 100% protection. The "paralysis" is usually asymmetric with Marek's but there is such a huge variation with the disease from something as innocuous as a droopy eyelid to...

As regards this bird, everything points towards Marek's. The wry neck and leg issues and the age of the bird and the extremely common and widespread nature of the disease. As someone who has experienced many birds with it over the past few years, it has every appearance of being Marek's to me...

There is a specialist poultry practise here in the UK that has been offering a Marek's test on faecal samples for several years now. It is only about £17 if I remember correctly. I have not made any enquiries as to the accuracy or what the testing involves, so I cannot tell you more than that.
