We have 8 newly hatched chicks! Temps have been in the 70s here & last night they were panting in the bator. I was afraid they wouldn't make it until morning stuck in there so we moved 7 to the brooder with just a single lightbulb. This AM they are doing great! Drinking & pooping just like...

I took pics of the first pip through the plastic windows and couldn't get one that wasn't blurry. Not sure if it was the close-up on the camera or the plastic window.

We awoke to one hatched and still wet. Just finished watching #2 zip its way out. It sure was fast once it started zipping. Glad the kids got to see before they went to school. One more has started zipping & all but 4 eggs have visible pips. So far the two chicks look like the hen that I...

Got more water added. Note to self: On next hatch put the extra water container closer to the vent holes and watch out for splash or it gets on the windows.

Thanks! I'll have to dig out the syringe that I used to blow eggs out before Christmas. Its a really big one and should make it easy to add water through the vent holes. Good luck to everyone who is just getting their eggs started! The kids have enjoyed the whole ordeal.

All are still quiet. We've been peeking alot. I am so glad my bator has big windows. Yesterday the humidity was steady at about 59%. Today it is down to 55%. Should I be concerned? When they went into lockdown I put a foam mushroom container from the grocery store in filled about 1" with...

That will be fun! If my hens were laying as usual I'd give you some eggs. After we got that "snow" they went from 15 eggs a day down to 1 -3 eggs per day. The last few days I've only been getting 1 egg. I do know that Conroe Feeders Supply in downtown Conroe has been collecting phone...

It is a still air model. The temp reading is coming from the top of the egg trays. The directions showed 99.5 w/ an auto turner and 101 w/o an autoturner. Edited to add: Should I be concerned?

Today I am starting my first hatch in my Little Giant bator. I got the bator for Christmas along w/ an auto turner. Two days ago I pulled the bator out of the box to start getting it all ready. Following the temp regulation directions provided by LG very quickly spiked the temp to 120...
