Just completed my 3rd hatch in this incubator. I ran a dry hatch with humidity during the first 18 days running below 30%. Some days my digital hydrometer read 16% which is as low as it goes. It stayed within the incubation range on the built in hydrometer although on the low end. I brought the...

I just set my third batch of eggs. I continuously follow this thread too. I have the older style fan guard and removed the mesh guard they sent me when the chick foot problem happened. I'll try the bowl underneath at hatching time to prevent injury. My current batch has 12 Mille Fleur Cochin...

This incubator saved one of our little chicks this weekend. We had a broody hatch a couple eggs. This little guy fell out of the nest and I found him in the middle of the coop buried with pine shavings, cold, and barely breathing. I had the incubator running so I put him in it to warm up but I...

I had this same concern when I set some bantam eggs. If you go back to post 199 you can read my experience. It turned out to be fine once I got past my panic. I just realized that's how it works. If I recall, I had an 85% hatch rate, and that was with shipped eggs.

Will you put them in an egg carton and hand turn them? I thought maybe that would help with the shipped eggs to incubate them upright.

I do think this incubator runs a little hot. I can't find a decent thermometer to calibrate it with though. Mine pipped on day 19 but they were bantams. I had 3 pip but die in shell. 2 of these were shipped though. I hope your next hatch goes better. The only thing keeping me from starting...

I looked back at your previous hatch where you were having trouble getting your humidity low enough during incubation. Was this an issue this time? The needle on my humidity gauge stayed in the bottom half of the incubation range and my hydrometer showed it to stay at about 22%.

My hatch is over. My last one hatched sometime today. I had two eggs left when I went to bed last night. I candled and showed movement in one but no pips. There still were not any pips this morning but I decided to leave them and go to work and when I got home one of the eggs had hatched...

Yes, I was wondering if the early hatch was due to them being bantams or from hotter temps. I will have to read through this thread again. I am going to hatch regular eggs next time, so I may leave the temp alone to test it because despite the early hatch, most of them hatched.

About half of my eggs have pipped! I noticed my first pip this morning. This is day 19. They are rocking and pipping and peeping. I had a feeling that the incubator was running a little hot. I remember reading through this thread and it seemed several people had early hatches. These are bantam...

I locked down 26 eggs today. I have 3 that have funky air cells on the sides of the eggs instead of on the end. These were shipped eggs. I guess next time I set shipped eggs I'll do the egg carton thing and hand turn them. The rest looked good so now we wait and see. Friday is hatch day!

I have been candling a lot more than I originally planned. It is just so neat to see what is going on in there. You are having a great hatch!

This was my exact same thought. I thought the eggs were not being turned enough so I was also hand turning them the first few days as well. I thought maybe I overcrowded the eggs causing them not to turn correctly. I set 34 bantam eggs instead of the recommended 27. I hope I didn't turn too...

Day 7 of incubation. I candled my eggs this evening. Out of the original 34 eggs I set, 26 are developing. I removed 8 eggs that were clear. I was most surprised that my shipped eggs are doing better than my local eggs. I imagine that the lady I got my local eggs from has some fertility...

I set my very first batch of eggs today. They were bantam eggs so I was able to fit 34 eggs into the turner. I figure I will have to remove some after candling and before lockdown so there should be more room at hatch time. I had a probe thermometer/hydrometer but it was driving me crazy by...

My Incubator Warehouse order came in today! The thermometer/hydrometer is showing 1/2 to 1° warmer than the built in thermometer. I have some bulb thermometers at school so I am going to run and get a couple tomorrow to test and see which one is right. Has anyone had experience with the probe...
