    Ticks?

Also, I have experience raising ducks. If they are similar to raise I'm sure I will be fine. I'd prefer start with chick's anyways, not grown ones.

    Ticks?

Tried to reply before, didn't let me quote a link so my whole post disappeared. I'm not too concerned with how good looking they are, shows aren't really a concern of mine. The more eggs the merrier, I would like to never have to buy eggs from the store again. Plus, there are tons of people...

    Ticks?

I will look into all this. Thank you very much. I'm not all too interested in having the most good looking birds, but the more eggs the merrier. I have tons of family members who would be interested in fresh eggs, and I'd be happy not having to buy from the grocery store anymore. I'm sure it'd...

    Ticks?

So a hybrid breed would be best? Does cackle only sell eggs, or do they also ship chicks? Edit: I looked up the hatchery and they do. Also, when I was looking into the RIR's, a hybrid that came up was the golden comet. Is that the one you mean for more eggs?

I have decided I will go with 6 hens, at this point in time research is pointing me towards the Rhode Island Reds.

    Ticks?

I have actually decided on chickens after tons of research. I wanted a change of pace. I would have been dedicated to guineas if I had chosen them, but the interest just wasn't really there. I have decided chickens because I know they will eat ticks, and I would also like fresh eggs. I will...

    Ticks?

I am almost 100% certain that they will indeed eat flies. The ducks I owned did, and I'm fairly certain it wasn't exclusive to their breed.

    Ticks?

That seems to be what I hear most. I did more research on muscovies with ticks, and I have seen mixed reviews about them eating them. I have seen that they will, but not in a way that is effective to actually get rid of them. I will probably end up picking up a few guineas in this case, because...

    Ticks?

Thank you, I will look into them. If it doesn't end up working out I may get both guineas and ducks. At least this way I'll still get to have my ducks.

    Ticks?

Will ducks eat ticks, or other insects from the yard? I have read some places that they will, but other places I have read they won't... So from personal experience, are they any help in ridding your yard of ticks? I know that guinea hens are good for insect control, but I have no interest in...
