I use egg cartons to hatch and it seems to improve the percentage. I also cut the bottoms out of the individual cups to increase the air flow which I believe helps to make more oxygen available to the hatching chick. .....stsan

Yes, the bottom bird is a male. They look lighter because they have double the barring of the females. Congrats on the good hatch!!.......stan

LOL, I have found that it is best to just not worry about 'em! I only get concerned with the humidity for the last 3 days. I do start them at 99 deg and increase to 100 for the pip and hatch. I just "set it and forget it".. I don't hav e enough hair that I can afford top loose any more worring...

Mine are from the Good Shepherd line. Sorry, I do not ship chicks, but I think you should be able to find someone near you that has this line also. Maybe you can get a pullet or 2 from them, or at least chicks in the spring. I'll be glad to help with eggs if you are not able to find someone...
