Unless the hen lays with their butt toward the opening, I doubt it. My nesting boxes are rubbermaid totes with a hole cut out one of the short sides :) If I see them in there, I don't open the lid because I don't want them to freak out while laying and associate the nest box with fear...
Does that mean I waited too long to collect it? And do you store them in the fridge hay bits and all til it's time to cook them? I've only been washing directly before cooking but I was hesitant to put such a dirty egg into the carton.
