Need to process some males, but hurricane #2 is coming my way and I may lose power. So it looks like they will enjoy another week on the patio. Glad they days are short and nobody's crowing.

This is my first pen with a ramp.. it was free and I needed something temporary so I can take apart the pens that are moving with me. I stapled hardware cloth to the ramp. I've seen them both upstairs and down so they've figured it out.

Those of you who don't use supplemental light, when do your quail start laying in spring? Mine finally started molting and just about quit laying now that the lights have been off a few weeks.
I turned off the supplemental light on my quail because I have too many eggs. One week later, exactly one hen quit laying :idunnoI guess they think it's spring already?
I like that they're listing egg/bird weight.
Mine have been outside since day 18. They got one night in the 50s to adjust, then down to the mid 40s - no problem. I thought I might be pushing my luck but they weren't huddling together at all.
The New Year's chicks aren't quite old enough to feather sex yet and one of them just made his first crow. So funny :lol: now if he crows in the morning too they are going outside pretty fast!
