Quote: Knowing my family, we very well could be! My father had 9 brothers and 5 sisters and to this day I'm not sure who is my cousin and who isn't! And even if we're not related, I commend you on your extraordinary taste! That's awesome that your DH builds cabins! And beer for eggs...

Quote: I know next to nothing about these little guys, but I'd be optimistic for your eggs. I'm having a slow and staggered hatch as well. I have noticed a lot of temperature fluctuation with my incubator (same one you have ), but thankfully it always sided on being too cool rather than too...

Quote: I did have to adjust mine. I pulled it out of the box, plugged it in for a couple of hours, and the glass thermometer read at about 96.5F.

Quote: Checked the eggs last night, and we've got 10/16 eggs developing! You're right, it may not be picture perfect, but it's obviously still doing its job. We'll see in about 10 days. Please tell me that Brinsea makes a time machine.. Can't I just skip to the 21st??

Quote: It's a good question. We followed the guidelines. Temperatures in the room stay around 70 degrees, right within the 'ideal' range of 68-77 degrees in the manual. Heck, I even bought a second thermometer just to monitor the room. Still fluctuates.. I'm choosing not to spend any...

Quote: I haven't found a way to get it to settle down. I've moved the eggs, I've bought more thermometers, I've adjusted the air vents, checked the room temperature, and so far the only thing constant is variation (just like they say... the only thing constant is change! ). But thankfully...

Quote: The Brinsea thermometer fluctuates from 98.5 on its side and to 99.5 when I have it straight up. You bring up a good point regarding the hatch rates. I hope I'm fretting for nothing. Perhaps I should follow your lead and toss out the electric thermometer.

I must not have complained about it enough! I rotated it last night, stared at it for what seemed like forever, the temperature didn't move, steady at 99.5F! I got up this morning, and there it was, at 97F. Grrr. I rotated it back to a neutral position, and the temperature climbed back to...

I just needed to complain about it, apparently. I rotated it tonight, it went down to 97 degrees... then after a few minutes it jumped back up to 99. Ah well, as long as it's not overheating we're good!

Has anyone else had any issues with their Brinsea Octagon Eco incubator dropping temperature when rotating it backwards? Mine goes from 99 to 97. I'm assuming the heat is escaping from the ventilation hole.
