ok.. Im not there so I can't see what's going on.. but if they manage to make an external pip really keep an eye on things.. and depending on how the membranes look I would have the paper towels on standby.. hopefully the humidity is high enough now that they can break out on their...

has your hygrometer been calibrated?...
also.. do you have any wet sponges you can toss in there?.. if the pip is small I would leave it for now.. but if he starts to make a large hole then yes.. wrap or drape a wet paper towel over it.. just make sure you leave it loose enough so that...

that's why the high lockdown humidity is so important.. the membrane is very tough and they wear themselves out trying to break through it.. so if the humidity is too low during lockdown they end up dying because they can't get out
I have hatched turkeys for years.. then ended up buying some from Porter's Heritage Turkeys.. I wanted some different colors and types and loved the fact that Mr Porter knows his genetics and what he's doing.. when i looked at his hatching page I realized that he follows the same procedure that...

i have opened eggs that hadn't pipped before.. sometimes all they need is a wet cloth...
what day are you on?
what have your temps been?.. have you had any temp swings?
have you candled the eggs to see if there are any internal pips or signs of life?

it takes them a while to stand after a hatch.. and then at first some will only stand for a few minutes then will settle back down.. their little leg muscles will strengthen and usually after the first day (or few hours with some) they are up and running around like little maniacs..i...
normally .. if everything went according to plan.. when they go through the effort of zipping they are absorbing the yolk.. BUT... when they get shrink wrapped.. they can't move around inside the egg.. so they don't absorb the yolk like they normally would..
the other incubator would be fine...
ok.. does the cord look really wet?.. if so let it dry on it's own.. keep the shell with him and let him rest away from other chicks.. keep him warm... he may or may not absorb the rest of the yolk.. hopefully he sleeps for a bit and doesn't try running around and rupture the yolk sack .. if...
