I have a rooster who is now a little over five months old. He has been crowing for a few weeks and is certainly interested in the hens. However his face is still as pale as it has been for months with just small splotches of red in places. I've had other males of this breed before and they all got very bright red faces by this age when they became 'mature'. He is otherwise healthy and his comb is quite red. Its just the face that is strange. Any thoughts of why this could be? Is it normal for some roosters to have paler faces than others of the same breed?
