which is better? i have red, but it seems my chicks are aggravated. would a white light change the attitude or are they just figuring out a pecking order? i have three that run around pecking at the others' eyes. sometimes, they grab and drag the victim around until i intervene. should i try a white light or just let them work it out?

The purpose of a red light is to deter pecking. If one of the chicks starts to bleed, the red light makes the blood look black. Chicks are attracted to the color red, and blood under a white light looks red.

Anyway you can seperate the aggressors? Maybe you need a bigger brooder? Try having 2 seperate lights in the brooder, one on each end, so they can spread out more.
