If you were to cross a Mottled Houdan to a Silkie, could you get mottled silkies? I know the first gen would have smooth feathers, but what if you kept going? What would be the best color of Silkie to cross to try to attempt this?

Someone in Israel had one...it passed away

Yeah, poor Mietsie died

I would recommend a mottled cochin to a black silkie for you F1. Seems like what the sizzle people did for their breed.

wow she was STUNNING!! Exactly like what I would like to try for! So sorry to hear of her passing. Would it be better to use a silkie roo over houdan hens or houdan roo silkie hens? Or would this not matter?

agreed with useing cochin,
Houdans are way too different of a breed to use. You'd have tons of work and many generations to cross back just to get close to silkie type.
They have nothing in common other than 5 toes and a crest, which are easy to get.
Use a cochin, you'll have it much easier in the long run, which yes will be a long run, 4-6 years of back crossing, you'll never get it in 1- or 2 crosses.
