My suggestion would be to breed mottled cochins and mottled houdans together, then breed those offspring to extremely typey black silkies (preferably silver gened birds, but not leaky). Have several unrelated breeding groups and pair the youngsters from one group with those from another. If I was starting over, that is what I would do. As is, I used cochins, but otherwise followed that path. It is not an easy project; expect generations, and avoid using blue mottleds.wow she was STUNNING!! Exactly like what I would like to try for! So sorry to hear of her passing. Would it be better to use a silkie roo over houdan hens or houdan roo silkie hens? Or would this not matter?
