Here are my 2 grey silkies. Thought they were 2 girls, but one started crowing last week, and is a male. How hard is breeding the greys? I know they are like partridges, but I have never bred those either. Do you have any pictures of correctly colored males/females? How is the coloring on these 2? They hatched back in July (i think).

Both have nice dark eyes and combs. Both have nice smooth combs without horns/points.

First pictures are the female. It looks like she does have duck foot, so I would have to do lots of culling for that. But I think breeding them would be a fun little project.

I am not too familiar with greys but I think they are gorgeous! Hopefully someone who works with greys will come along and help!

They are pretty. I believe I have a grey roo. I thought he was a partridge when I got him, but now I think otherwise. I have him up on BST auction right now, I only have 2 silkies and they are roos and I have too many roos in general!

Those are from Marjorie Best? I like the first bird, the second looks like it has poor middle toe feathering. She has some very pretty grays, but from what I understand by reading the standard I don't think I've seen one that meets the standard. I think the color is gorgeous, nonetheless. Pretty birds.

Yes, they are. The male does have feathers down his whole middle toe. I was looking at him yesterday and it looks like the broke them off somehow. I was thinking about breeding them, and then linebreeding with their offspring and see what that gives me. I just love the color.
