eggs on a plane

I'm going to be flying to a family reunion this Sunday, and I'd like to bring a few dozen eggs on the plane (carry-on). They'll be fresh eggs, and some my chickens lay pretty thin shelled eggs. I'll have the eggs in egg cartons. Am I likely to have any trouble with air pressure? I've had ink pens leak in my pocket in past flights, so I know that the pressure in the passenger cabin isn't always the same as at ground level.
 
Within the same country? If it's not, there's hefty fines for avoiding the importation rules here in the US. Have you checked with the airlines to know they will let you bring them on board?
 
It is within the country. I did check the restrictions at the TSA website and saw nothing about eggs, but I guess I will try to contact them. My main concern is having a few dozen eggs all breaking...
 
Well, who knows. They might make you break them all to make sure you aren't trying to sneak on things that go boom!

LOL! I was JUST wondering the same question! If we have a family reunion can I send my brothers and sister home with a dozen eggs and will they be able to take then on the plane??? With a security check and stuff?
 
I fly with eggs all the time. I have never had any problem going through the check point, except for the TSA saying they wanted them, lol. I do take a folded up paper towel and weave it between the eggs in the carton, then wrap the carton in foil, and put the cartons in a 2 gallon zip lock bag, 2 cartons per bag. I've never had a broken one.

ps...maybe offer your chickens some oyster shell to toughen up the shells?
 
I just sent 4 dozen eggs home with a friend as carry on. We put them in the plastic cartons that fold over twice and are clear. She put them on the belt thru the x-ray. The TSA guy asked if they were eggs and looked in the bag. No problems with security or the air pressure. Eggs made it safe are are being eaten still.
