hey guys,
Two day's ago i decided that i wanted to get an incubatorgoing again and get some hatching going, ive been ill for over 18 months and being stuck at home was getting me down so what better to occupy my time than worrie about eggs .
ive hatched runner ducks before and they are now big fat, well loved family pets to my friend on her small holding, that was a few years ago now but this time ive decided to have a go with button quail ive brought/ ordered a mixture of 2 dozen new stock American button quail eggs with a possibility of redbreast, Silver and pied. ive also brought a new incubator as my last was a homemade polycooler incubator that i had great fun making and designing but sadly hasnt lasted over the few years since i made it so sadly had to be binned.
the new incubator ive brought is a MPS12(UK18) Incubator if you want to see it http://www.maino.co.uk/MPS18.asp
that is the link for the site.
ive brought it second hand and the guy ive brought it off usedit to hatch gamebirds in so he's sending me a hints and tips page along with it as well as the full instructions ect,yet the more information i get the better so here are my noobish questions
1: has anyone ever seen or used one of these incubators befor?
2: if yes is there any problems i.e thermostat issues ect?
3: some people say button quail need 75% humidity throughout hatching going to 85% for hatching is this correct?
or do they need 65% going to 70-80% which is what the qauil book ive brought recomends?
4: (yet again conflictiing information) what is the best amount of time to rest the eggs befor setting 12hrs or 24hrs?
5: last question is there anyway to stop myself being so excited
thanks for taking the time to read this i know its long and probably ha hundreds of spelling mistakes and grammer mistakes but any advice hints or tips are greatly welcome cant wait to get to know you all
