Hello All!

I was wondering if I could get some advice for my chickens... I have 6 standard cochins, 1 male and the rest female. It seems as though some of my ladies have feathers missing on their necks. Last year I had a chicken who was picking feathers from others, causing bald spots. I shipped her off to another farm, where some old, wise hens put her in her place. But now I am noticing that there are missing feathers on some of my girls. But not all. I was just wondering if this is because they are being mated with, molting, or maybe there is a bully in the bunch. Has anyone had this type of missing feathers before? Picture 1 is my boy with 3 of his ladies, whom he frequents. They are the ones with missing feathers. The 2nd picture is my other girl, who he tends to leave alone. She has no problems with any of her neck feathers.

Thanks!

the rooster may be breaking the feathers not pulling them out properly while he is mating
alos there may be some damage from ur previous problem hen
the solution is to get twezers and pull out all out the broken feathers make sure the folicale comes out as well otherwise you will have to wait till the next molt to see good feathers so pull them out and the feathers should grow back in a few weeks if they grow back then get pulled out i am affraid that its ur rooster

The feather loss pictured looks like the work of a feather plucker. My guess is that the pretty hen in picture # 2 is your culprit.
