We have been having some trouble with a fox. He has killed 7 of our chickens, a gosling, a duckling, a turkey poult and a guinea keet. We have tried to fox proof our fencing, (putting tarps over the fence, tall fencing, and chicken wire around the fence). We normally keep our chickens in the coop unless we are around and our dogs are outside to scare it. But it got our chickens when the dogs were outside. The fox is really starting to anger me and i have been thinking of ways to keep it away from our chickens without killing it. The only reason I am hesitant about killing it is because it may have kits. So i was mainly wondering if two full grown Toulouse Ganders will be able to either scare it away or at least warn us. http://fairbanks.craigslist.org/grd/3008135361.html

Look at it this way, if you don't kill it and it does have kits, that will equal more foxes to kill your chickens. My advice to you, and I am speaking from experience, is to kill every fox you see. Otherwise, keep the chickens is a foxproof cage. The fox will attack any time of day. And they will take more than one, they will wipe you out if they get a chance.

x2 we have a bobcat problem, it has been taking dead housecats down the road. And now an insane skunk runs around our yard. I haven't seen the bobcat at all last month or this month. I did see a gray fox the other day, then a black bear in an open field in mid-day.

Are your dogs free to engage fox directly when it visits? If dogs confined seperately in anyway from chickens, then a wiley fox can use your confinement to enable its hunting.

It doesnt matter if the dogs are confined or not. If they dont want to go after the fox, then they are simply not going to go after them.

All that will happen is that the fox will kill your gander and have a bigger meal.

The gander might honk and let you know that something is there and you can rush out with your gun to shoot the fox. But ganders honk all day long, so you will be rushing outside a lot, and usually for nothing.

My ganders don't honk about danger. They hiss, and that is not loud enough for me to hear when I am inside the house.

You cant speak for most dogs since you dont know how they respond. You can only speak for your dogs.
One can speak for most or more better described as dogs in general if one has the experience with many dogs. Some dogs will not give a fox much mind but they are the minority. Most importantly it is OP that knows a very important peice of information, was the dog in question able to get at fox? Do you know the answer to question?
