automatic coop door opener

Here is a video of the door opener I just finished.
It is made using a motor from a retrofit universal power car window set I bought probably 25 years ago for my first car and never installed. I attached a small pulley and ran an old garage door cable through it and over another pulley to the door.
The solar powered battery is hooked up to a DPDT switch which is moved by a timer meant for an indoor wall switch. when the timer turns "on", the current flows through the switch, through a roller lever limit switch, through the motor, back through the other pole of the switch, and back to the battery. When the door hits the limit switch it breaks the circuit and shuts off the motor.
When the timer turns "off", the current flows through the other side of the switch, through the other limit switch, and back through the motor in the opposite direction, turning the motor "backwards. When the door closes it hits the limit switch and breaks the circuit, turning the motor off.

Not counting the parts I had "just lying around", it cost me about $30. (timer, switch, pulley)

Never mind, apparently I can't post a video directly from my PC? :((

Many thanks to jimmywalt (post 77) for instruction to build the automated door.

We're very grateful.
