I am new to chickens and I would love some advice on how to obtain some birds effectively and frugally. I would like to start my chicken-based adventures with 3 or 4 Ameraucanas or Araucanas, but the prices I've found on them vary DRAMATICALLY online, further I have no idea if they are good for a beginner or if they are good in the situation I would like to use them for (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/684823/new-plans-for-old-stuff-a-chicken-tractor). I know very little about the breeds other than they lay blue eggs (my biggest draw), and they are a recognized breed. I have heard a few things but not a lot of reliable information.
What should I expect with this breed?
How much would little chicks of these breeds cost? juvenile pullets?
What is the likelihood that I will be able to find them at my local poultry swap (southern illinois region)?
Are they good in a hotter humid climate (109 recently, but that is unusual), and one that dips into freezing, although only mildly?
Basically I want to know if I can afford them and if they are good for my situation. :p

Thank you much for sharing your knowledge!

Check out the Ameraucana breeders website. There are 4 in IL and 3 in Missouri. I think they would make great birds for you as a beginner.

(I see you're grouping Ameraucana and Araucana together, but they're different breeds. I suspect you've been looking at hatcheries, who often advertise them together, but are truly selling Easter Eggers, thus the price variance.)

I have googled Ameraucana and Auracana's frequently and haven't found a breeder website just for them! Where is this website? Also, yes i do know they're different breeds, but yes since they have been used together so frequently I just think of them as the same thing with some physical differences. I honestly don't care about the chicken's looks, although irradescent ones are pretty.

I can answer you on Araucanas, I keep a small flock of them.

What should I expect with this breed? An interesting, quirky, delightful chicken. They're friendly and inquisitive. The large fowl version is small compared to most large fowl breeds. But they are incredibly light eaters, and very good egg layers. I'd say the eggs are average sized. If you breed them, you will become well versed in their unique genetic traits, and also the difficulties of said traits at times.
How much would little chicks of these breeds cost? juvenile pullets? I am unsure of cost of already hatched birds on average, but expect the cost to be high. If you cannot find them locally and are set on the breed, you'd have to have them shipped in. No hatchery sells ANY Araucanas (despite what they may advertize), so you can't get them at way. Most breeders don't sell chicks, just more mature birds that won't work in their breeding program, it seems. Hatching eggs average about 40$ a dozen, including shipping. Hatch rates of shipped Araucanas eggs are poorer than other breeds. It is almost as if the embyro is more delicate than others.
What is the likelihood that I will be able to find them at my local poultry swap (southern illinois region)? There is a breeder of Araucanas in IL, called Chicken Scratch Poultry. They may be your best bet for chicks and/or pullets locally. They sell unsexed chicks for 9$ each, and sexed pullets for 20$ each, according to their website.
Are they good in a hotter humid climate (109 recently, but that is unusual), and one that dips into freezing, although only mildly? The breed is incredibly hardy. They take my cold winters in stride, and are not terribly bothered by these recently hot temperatures. The Araucana as we know it has part of its history as a bird from Chile. As you probably know, the climate of Chile varies hugely, from alpine tundra conditions to humid subtropical.

The website for the Araucana Club of America is here.

one of them is actually driving distance from me and they said I can come to their farm and pick up directly from them. Ohhh i'm so happy now. AAAND they offer their own variety of olive colored egg layers. I may try to test my luck and see if i can get one of each of the color layers they have lol.
