MayMay has maggots that hatched on her rear end today. I washed them out, picked off what I could think i got all fo them. There is some dead foul smelling tissue i washed and cleaned out. I saw to put SWAT on it. I ran up to TSC got some and slathed it on the area. Is it ok to put on the area they were in? its a wound and the container says not to put on the wound only around it.

HELP QUICKLY!!!!

I know you said you washed the maggots off, but did you submerge the wound in water to drown any others that may not be visible? I'd do that first, so you know you got them all off.

yup that's the stuff. No prolapse. She has been sick and has had icky butt for the last week. I have been cleaning it off two to three times a day and using a fly spray. I must not have cleaned her good enough. I have found the eggs on her feathers for the last two days and was so careful to make sure i washed her so well, used dawn, etc. I missed them. I did this to my MayMay. I brought her in immediatly, put her on her side in the sink and used the sprayer with warm water. They were just under the skin and started to craw big time when i het them with the water. I pinched the top skin layer and just grabbed them with my two finger and pulled the skin and maggotts off her. Was not a huge hunk of skin or anything. Just like a really thin layer they were under. Did this twice as i found them. That got most of them I think. THen i washed really really good and picked anymore i could find off with tweezers. I put her on the table on her side wrapped in a towel and went to work. Cleaned the area they did do damage to from the outside of the vent about 2 inches by 2 inches and soaked in warm water, cleaned any goo away, dead tissue, smelly stuff etc. I found anohter one or two crawling on her skin on top and picked those off two. I sat with her for about and hour watching for any more and put on neosporin. Locked her up in the bathroom and ran to TSC for the SWAT. Came home, rewrapped her, on her side, and checked again for any more. Dont see anymore. I slathered on the swat pretty heavy.

ETA: By the way, how's her eye?
thanks for asking. This poor girl has been throughg the ringer. The next day it was ok, and she was fine and actually getting over what ever the heck it was. yesterday, i noticed her scratching at her face and saw another round of blood clots. I am wondering if she scratched herself???? today she was fine, still it except for the **** maggots. That is the grosses thing i have ever seen. She really doesnt seem to be in any pain from it either.
