I just made a small chicken coop for about 2 or 3 chickens, because I wanted a thing for any sick or injured chickens I might have. I used a doghouse that my dog is afraid of and some fencing that we had left over from our bigger coop. Here are some pics. :)

looks great! I wish I would have had something like this a few months ago for my hen and her babies.

that works! I have a question. I am going to start chicks in the spring and build a small coop/run this fall -winter. A friend put new screens on her home and has offered me the old to build a coop. My question is the screen is of a nylon synthetic material (not steel/metal). would chickens peck through this and/or could it be unhealthy or, as I am hoping, would they be great for a run? I too, hope to remodel our old doghouse into a small coop and maybe (?) use these screens???

I had that type of screen on the bottom of my coop door. it worked good for a week then I woke up to my chickens in my garden. they had pecked through it.

I'm not sure. The reason why we have such heavy fencing is that we have a lot of predators around here, I think once I put it in the place I want I will put some rocks or wood around the edges so my dog won't dig. :)

Update: I added about 4ft of fencing to the run. I plan on cutting a door in the back and have a tray for the entire floor, that way I could just pull out the tray and dump it out. I got 6 chicks yesterday, so when they get a bit older it will be a grow-out pen for a while. :)
