As it seems to be the thing here, I thought I would take some photos of our new arrival. This is the first time we have raised chickens and so far it has been quite amusing! We ordered 10 pullets from Ideal poultry (4 Minorcas, 2 Ameraucana EEs, 2 Blue Andalusians and 2 Ideal 236 Hybrids) and they arrived the day after hatching! It has been amazing how much they have grown.

All of these photos were taken today (3 days old). We have been feeding them out of hand the last day or so and they seem to be relatively comfortable with us.

Without further adieu...

Thanks all!

The orange colored one (which we have named Anne Hatchaway) is one of the Ameraucana EEs. The other EE is the chipmunk (Chickmunk) looking one. It will be interesting to see how both will feather out! They are the largest in the brooder so far.

I wonder if Anne Hatchaway will come out like this girl. We ordered Buff Leghorn Pullets from Ideal back in May. I saw from the start that one chick had legs of a different color. After a few weeks, i saw that her comb was different. I though maybe the other chicks had been picking on her and messed it up. Her coloring matches my other Buff Leghorns so well, i never thought she would be something else. When I posted a pic of her and some of my other Buff Leghorns in the BL thread, they told me she is an EE chicken! Oh Well, We love our Dino!

Oh I hope so! Dino is a good looking gal plus, EEs are pretty cool. So far our chicks are about 6 days old and starting to perch all over their feeder etc. I put a branch in there today to give them something else to sit on and hopefully avoid making a mess in their food!

So we started our coop building today! I posted more on my coop thread (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/698807/chickens-our-west-austin-coop-build-lots-of-photos) so take a look! Our girls are doing very well so far. Getting big in a hurry.

Here they are in the new brooder. We weren't planning on moving them so soon but now that they have figured out how to use their wing feathers we figured the space was a good idea! They are still pretty skiddish but no biggie!

So I may have had a little extra time on my hands and I may have found an excuse to play with the fish eye lens but here it goes: Chicken video!

So I havent really updated in awhile outside of my coop thread but I thought I would add some photos of the girls! They are now roughly 15 weeks old and my have they grown!

Chickmunk all grown up and quite striking. Looks like a hawk.

Some of the girls enjoying the sun.

Silly group
