Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So the ongoing insanity of having December chicks... they need to move out of the brooder in the garage, now they are four and seven weeks old. Into the separate coop space now occupied by the injured pullet, who really can't go back with the flock. :barnie
Our coop/ run combination has five separate areas, and it doesn't seem like enough right now!
I think the seven chicks are going into the annex section, and the pullet will remain where she is. At least this way we will still only have three heated water bases going, not four.
Fun! Tonight may be the time, at least it's not raining or snowing.
Looking ahead at the weather this month, it sure does look like January. Ugh!

So, speaking of mid-winter thaws... My two roosters must've been all in their feels thanks to the fresh spring-ish air. My dominant roo (Clint) beat the snot out of the less dominant one (Loki). Clint went for a ride today to the rooster sanctuary where he was happily greeted by some other nice roosters. I got to see my original rooster there, too, doing great, with his sister.

Loki is in a crate in our new greenhouse. His eye was pretty swollen and he wouldn't open it yesterday. I treated it with terramycin and Vectricyn on the wounds on his comb and have been cuddling with him the past two nights. His eye opened up today and the swelling has gone down considerably! I kept him because he is so docile and he's just prettier, and I wasn't going to put all the medical treatment he needs on a rescue, anyway.

My word, that a lot of extras happening over there. Here's to hoping your 2026 slows down a bit soon!

Loki is doing so much better today. His eye is nearly perfect. One last round of goop on his eye and some Vaseline on his comb (I'm not touching those waddles, tho). Do y'all think he'd be good to rejoin his ladies tomorrow or should I wait for all the scabbing to heal more?
