My 1.5 year old "Americauna" (easter egger) Cheyanne is acting very strange suddenly. I first noticed when she didn't run up to me with the others in the back yard (Free ranging) tonight, but stood very still on the other side of the yard. She let me pick her up without struggle, and her beak is open with eyes moving very slowly. I gave them some chicken scratch and she didn't even peck. Her tail feathers are down and it appears she is straining (under feathers moving up and down as if clenching?). There is a slight mucous, but very small dribbles. She has been laying odd eggs lately, sometimes normal green and other times very large "monster" eggs that are misshapen and sometimes have slight cracks or raised stretch-like line in the middle of the egg. Anyone have hints on this? My first chicken health issue and I am worried about my girl! IT was a little warmer than usual today (85 in WA) but they have had hotter before. I have a great video, but cannot figure out how to post it...
I just got her to drink some ice cold water, but she won't eat anything. Saw her try to poo, but only a white slimy glob came partially out.

Please help! Thanks, Jenn

Welcome to BYC! I'm sure some people will be able to give you good answers soon.

Post the video to youtube, click "share" and copy the link that appears, then use the icon that looks like a film strip, a bit right of center on the menu bar for the reply window, and paste the link into there. That will get the video into a post here.

Thank you for the video posting info! My video is a little shaky but hopefully you can still see the issue, and what I think is some kind of straining. Any ideas on how to help her? I just noticed this today, so hopefullly it hasn't been an issue too long. She is still just standing there under the hammock, with her head somewhat down.
