Went by the feed store yesterday and noticed that one of their 6-8 week old peachicks has what I think is a slipped tendon. It's left hock is warm, swollen, the leg is starting to rotate out and it can't walk. It's been indoors, on pavement with little to no bedding, no sunlight and it's been fed nothing but 27% turkey starter and giant, live meal worms. I told them to switch to a lower protein food, but we'll see...
That said, is there anything that can be done for the chick? From what I've read so far, I think the chicks days are numbered. If any of you have ever delt with this, please let me know. Diet changes, vitamin, mineral, splinting, surgery, euthanasia, etc... I'd like to hear it all. If any of you aren't comfortable with posting, send me a PM.
I will try to post pictures later.
