Marek's Disease. Questions, Questions, Questions...HELP!

There is an article on this link that was written by Peter Brown "the chicken doctor" from First State Vet Supply.

It is an interesting article and where I read that vaccinating an older bird may stop the tumor growth. I will say that one chicken that I vaccinated NEVER laid another egg. She was a young bird, and laying every day. I gave her the vaccine and her laying stopped, immediately. Figure that out, but that is the only problem I have seen from the vaccine. When I buy from a hatchery I always have them vaccinated, just for a little security.

I have been up all night looking for anything else that could be affecting our 7 week old chicken. Sadly when I saw the pictures there was no more doubt.

Here 3 days ago was a happy, healthy, active bird. Two night ago when she let us pick her up and refused to walk I assumed a leg injury. She has never been a social bird and would have run run if she was able. She calmly sat in my son's lap for several hours last night but we could not get her to take any food. I thought she did, but later saw she had been dropping it all out. She acts like she drinks, but it is not going in her. When I look at the options I don't see much of a choice.

Our Blackbeak will be humanely put down today. I will open her up and quiet that unease, but also to be sure and know how to see the signs for what they are and save any others that come down with it some suffering. Also, calling the co-op to ask where they got the chicks and if they had the vaccination. Don't know any more than that. I have a group of 21 chicks in the brooder...I'm hoping they stay safe.

I, too was devastated to loose my hens. First the bantam and then the Isa Brown and then my beautiful Orphington.
Am left with just one Isa Brown, she doesn't look good, seems to make a crowing motion and looks lonely.
The guy I bought them from said they had been vaccinated, but he wasn't sure about my bantam, he didn't breed it, he said.
All signs pointed to Mareks. Now I am too afraid to get anymore, and yet it was so lovely having them.
