Oh, close to Shipshewana. Always wanted to go there!Hello from Topeka, In.!
Yeah, about ten miles south of Shipshe right in the middle of Amish country!Oh, close to Shipshewana. Always wanted to go there!
I'd personally get rid of the roo before the hen. I'm nowhere close otherwise I'd take herIn greencastle (ish) we have a 2.5 yo black austrolorp that needs a new home. She lays decently still, doesn't through winter much, does well through molts. Nothing wrong with her (unless internally) aside from our rooster hates her.
He didn't like her when his hormones started back in Feb/March and we penned him off bc we wanted him to outgrow. He was let out last week ((he is now a year old and we processed his male offspring lol)), and chases her. There are 23 hens, two black ones, and he just hates her for some reason. Chases from across the pen, she submits but he still goes after her. He doesn't do it all day maybe a few times bc we do monitor via camera but still
We put him in the growout last night. They have 26square foot per bird with bars throughout and sight breaks (search our article)
I know some just dont get along. He's great with the others. Great with us. He calls for treats, dances(and wobbles still) treats everyone good except the one. (I wondered if she was sick, we've lost a few of our BAs to internal issues)
I've read so many threads here that say one or the other. Have no idea if she's picked on his buff ladies (he's a buff brahma) or something else but yeah.
