Yay, they all made it bright eyes and bushy tails, they are happy and warm, no broken toes or crooked legs, all the right color and size, Porcelian d'Uccles, they seem very nice quality and have eaten and drank, and eaten grogel!

Special HUGE thanks to my post master Tom who called me at 6 am this morning offering for me to go around to the mail carrier entrance to meet him at the back doors to get them before they opened at 9 am, he cared very well for them in a seep rate carrier box in the warmest part of the warehouse!

Another special thanks to Ideal Poultry for shipping my babies on the night of the 5th so it was possible for then to make it here safely, the extra padding they put in the box helped my babies stay bundled together and safe and the quality is really nice!!

Only thing I was about is that my feed store didn't get my feed in in time so I am feeding them a 24% that is NOT MEDICATED, do you think their be okay without the preventative until my feed comes in??

Thank you!!

Congrats on the new arrivals! Glad you had such a positive experience. I think they will be fine until your food comes in.

:love

As long as they aren't in contact with other birds or areas that have held other birds (other chicks don't count if they were in the brooder) then they will be fine. No exposure means no illness. :) Just practice good bio security. Sooooo cute...

We are one of the many that don't use medicated starter either. Non medicated 18% protein starter/grower all the way until layer pellets. Each summer and fall we end up with mixed age flock so all eat same thing. The 24% protein flock raiser is excellent but too pricey for me.

Yea but they love it. $18.99 a bag. Use 150lbs every month. I use the Purina brand. It say 20% protein on the bag. Will climb. Plan on getting at least 75 more birds and turkey's. LOL. But my chickens pay for there own food with the sale of my eggs. I eat the duck eggs. There better!!! Won't tell the girls that. HAHAHA.

Thank you all, I really appreciate the input.
They will be on the Purina Honor Show Chow Turkey Starter next week which is a 30% protein which was recommended by many since I'd like to take a few to the shows if they are of quality and that extra protein for the first 6 weeks really helps their feather and bone quality, then they will go to the Purina Honor Show Chow Broiler Complete for the rest of the time they are with me which is hopefully MANY MANY years!

I just peaked in on them, half of them sleeping so soundly, while the other half are talking, eating and drinking hah!

Just make sure they don't get too much protein. I read that can be bad also.30% protein can cause leg problems and heart issues. Basically they grow to fast for there bones to handle. So be careful. I mean you only use 28% feed basically wild game feed to start turkey's.Every now and again you could feed them canned cat food. Which is high in protein.

Just saying before you jump into such a high % of protein feed.
