So yesterday i went outside to check on my hen that was due that day and she wasnt in the nest, the eggs were freezing cold, and the days before she wasnt either but i thought she was just doing her rounds and going back to the eggs. I took the eggs inside and candled them, i know they are supposed to be on lockdown but i had to candle them to see which ones to put under my other hen, in hopes that they will hatch. Out of those 23 eggs, one had pipped a hole in the egg and died but all the rest were fertile and had big chicks in them, but no movement. I decided i couldnt put 22 eggs under my hen that already had 12 eggs under her, so i decided to keep them in the house and see what i can do. I buried the one that had died and i figured the rest were dead but i decided to leave them for a bit longer. I wrapped them in paper towels and i put them in a shoe box in the sun. After a while they werent warm at all so i decided to make my own incubator. I cut a hole through the box and put a light in it with a cup of water. A while later they were much warmer and i heard an egg pip, i got soooo excited, i had to find out what egg it was, i did and now he has been peeping every ten minutes about and he started like 20 hours ago and he hasnt zipped a hole through the egg. Is there any way i can help this guy, if i tap the egg with my finger he taps back but that is it. What can i do for him, i dont want him to die?! Thanks in advance.

I know how to do that, i have done it before but he hasnt pipped a hole in the egg at all, so i dont know were to start.

When you candled them you didn't see movement? Good cause I have a duck egg due to hatch and I candled him and he's not moving....

The one that was peeping was moving, i buried the rest, it was very sad.

Hi, I raise chickens for my county fair. My chicks are a little over a week old. I have one chick that has been acting weird such as laying all the time and when I got check on them they all get up and move around except for him. He just lays there with his eyes closed. I know he is alive because he is breathing. When I picked him up he just chirped a little then laid in my hand. All my other chicks are eating starter feed and they are fine. I have them.on my porch because with the heat lamp they kept panting and they seem to be happy with some air and not so her and my chicks last year were the same. Someone help!

Try taking a syringe with water and putting it in his mouth, is he smaller than the other one?
After you give him water open his mouth and put some egg in it, is he panting at all??

No he wasn't panting and he was the smaller of the bunch, but sadly a couple hours later he died. I buried him. My FFA advisor told me when his internal yolk ran out he just probably couldn't make it without it. But my other chicks are doing great! Thanks for the advice though!
