Having a Bit of A Problem, And it Seems I'm Not The Only One...

We appreciate all those that are being patient as we work through these issues, providing all the details about which browser / version they are on, and testing other browsers (we STRONGLY suggest the newest versions of Firefox and Google Chrome).

These bugs frustrate us 1,000 times more than they frustrate you. We're very sorry for the problems and our team is working diligently for a solution.

If you haven't already done so, and are still having problems, please make sure you reply to this thread with:

  • Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.)
  • Have you tried disabling all your browser plugins and/or extensions? (Some of these conflict with website features and tools)
  • Have you deleted your internet cache / browser history of files and tried again?
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Have you tried a different browser (we suggest Google Chrome or Firefox)?

Thanks so much for all you do, Nifty! This site is truly one-of-a-kind just because of how helpful and caring the staff are, and how diligent they are in fixing bugs like these!

  • Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.): I am using Internet Explorer; it is the only thing I can use that won't set my computer off in spazzes of glitches.
  • Have you tried disabling all your browser plugins and/or extensions? (Some of these conflict with website features and tools): I don't have any to disable...
  • Have you deleted your internet cache / browser history of files and tried again? Yes, but it does not seem to work.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Have you tried a different browser (we suggest Google Chrome or Firefox)? As stated above, I am using Internet Explorer; it is the only thing I can use that won't set my computer off in spazzes of glitches...

This is what I think. Yes we are having problems. But how many people since this threat has started and nifty stated how to respond has done so? 2-3? I'm sorry but this site is a gift to me. I just started chickens this year and have learned so much about them. I just got an incubator and i'm learning thanks to this site. People are so up set about pics but they don't care to respond correctly to help solve this problem. Everyone who responds "oh I have this problem" " this aint working" "i'm mad it aint working i'm done with this site".

People If all problems with sites was fixed in a second then we wouldn't need people going to college to fix the problems. This is a true coding problem not a simple fix. If this was a quick fix then you should be able to fix it your self not need the site techs to fix it.

So relax spend a few min more to post a pic that will be seen by 100+ people in a few days. If you don't like it. Well go back to spam mailing people via usps mail.

I will admit I don't like that the byc site says to try google or firefox. They even bold it out to recommend it. That is not something i'm a fan of and will be upset about.

I have had no problem with google chrome but I don't like it so I don't use it. The recommending what works really makes me up set. since it all should work.

I downloaded google chrome and am finally able to post pictures. But I only use it to upload. Then I go back to IE (my preference) to do my actual browsing/reading. I am looking forward to IE being fixed so I don't have BYC opened in two windows.

I have been having issues posting pics I can select them it asks what size then looks like its uploading but nothing appears in the editor. I worked fine last night the first time I posted pics, then today it started not posting except for 1 randomly would work here or there. Now it won't post at all. It looks like everything is working just no picture shows up in the post. I am using IE 7 and I did not try all the other stuff to much trouble.

I just read on another thread that a member using IE was able to download pictures by doing the following steps: Go to reply, type in something - then click on the "PREVIEW" button in the bottom right corner. When it goes to the preview pane you can select the photo from there - and it worked for another member. Worth a try until they get this sorted out!

I gave up on IE7 I down loaded Chrome just so I could put pics on BYC. easy to do honest.

At least one member had good luck by `rolling back' IE10 to IE9. Press the F12 key while IE10 (also available back to IE8) opens the developer window (choose Browser mode and check mark IE9) then clear the cache by pressing CTRL+F5. Then sign-in and see if the problems persist? Yes/No?, post up results (good or bad).

Force refresh instructions for different browsers: http://www.wikihow.com/Force-Refresh-in-Your-Internet-Browser#Google_Chrome (Additionally, if the problem is in Chrome - Try Advanced Settings/Privacy/ check: Incognito Mode - this makes Chrome a chronic amnesiac (might slow one down on dial-up as nothing is stored).

For the more nerdy: Run Fiddler (view: always on top) while attempting to upload - on what line does the process freeze? http://fiddler2.com/

No problems, here (IE8/IE9/Chrome) so the example provided is what a portion of upload looks like when working: http://cdn.backyardchickens.com/7/7e/7e613dd7_debuggywhipA.jpeg

Interesting.

When reporting please provide: machine/OS/Browser(s)Versions.

Quote: That was me she was talking about. I could not get a picture to post, until I tried doing it through the preview edit window. Then I had to click preview after each addition in order to add another.

I was able to post a picture today through IE, but had to use the preview function in order to post a second in the same thread. Posting photos in PM's is working fine.
