Just sharing...I have 4 lil chicks...didn't have a waterer. Tried a bowl w/rocks so they didn't drown but they were constantly wet running around in it, wetting the bedding, making for even more frequent changes...only have 4 chicks tho, lol

I took a chobani yogurt cup (rounder and a lil shorter than others) and baby bottle I found in the cupboard. Just the bottle, no cap or nipple. Filled it with water. Took scissors and cut a sliver of plastic from the cups rim. Put yogurt cup on top. Slipped sliver of cup where the cup and bottle meet to make a tiny gap. Flip the whole thing over and set it down. The water will fill the cup in a minute or so, then I set it in a dipped the beaks to make sure they weren't scared of it, as they drink it will refill. I used a full size bottle.

Takes up a lot less space for me, water stays put and they can't climb it or tip it :) only needed scissors (couldn't find a toothpick to slip in there)

The sliver of plastic you cut from the yogurt cup was just to use as a spacer between the upside-down bottle and the yogurt cup? What if they knock into the bottle, will it tip over? Looks nice.

The chobani yogurt cup has a wider base and full of water is so far sturdy but I did nothing to secure it other than set it so the it'd tip against the side wall of brooder, just a lil bit not tip over, if they get crazy in there lol. I just used what was on hand quick. Could very well tie a string around the brooder wire and around the lip of the yogurt cup...

Ya the sliver is to let water flow from bottle to fill cup, if not there or if it dislodged, bottle forms a seal and new water wont flow into cup resivore. Toothpick sorta gets stuck/wedged (good thing) but none on hand! I like that its beak level to drink...they don't stumble into it and get everything all wet :) just a few weeks til they're outside...I test short need durability lol
