Tube Feeding Info

I know this a little old, but what is good to mix in the tube feeding food? I have a chopper that I used today, but all I had that I thought would be fine enough was banana, yogurt, honey a bit of baking soda/salt that I read is good in home made electrolyte mix, and water and vitamins.

I know yogurt isn't great too often so I don't want to keep using that. I'm going to soak some crumbles in water for a long time and see if they soften enough to use.

My pullet is very tired today, I hope I haven't waited too long to attempt the tube. It was quite easy, I used regular air hose for fish tank as recommended by Doc Peter Brown. Burnt one end with a lighter and it went down fine and was way easier than the tiny holes in the cath. Lubed it up good with oil. I used hemp oil because I got it for my silkie with mareks and I read it's pretty good for you. Probably going to have to tube the silkie too because she's losing weight. I am trying the st johns wort on her and also vaccine which most say doesn't do any good, but the doctor said it can help so I got it.

Hi there. I use kaytee EXACT to give in the tube. Its got tons of vitamins and omegas in it. Its called exact hand feeding formula for baby birds. It flows nicely through the tube without issue.has all the vitamins the birds needs.its a EXCELLENT choice to use for tube feeding. I bought mine online however pet supply stores should have it. Its easy to use and nutritionally complete. Hope this helps. Best wishes.I was told about exact for tube feeding from avet. They said its really the best thing to use. Best of luck to you.

I had seen that, I will see if Jacks Pets has it, they are the only petshop near me. My chicken seems worse now that I did that. Reminding me of my other cochin who died, I hope not! I need to see if I have mealworms to give her a couple.

IMNSHO, Kaytee Exact is the best and even has probiotics in it.

But if you *can't* find it, you could *try* putting some chick crumbles in a blender or coffee grinder, but even then I'm not sure how easy it will be to get through a tube.

Please use Pedialyte or just water, I wouldn't trust a recipe that I found on the web.
