It was strange that there is only 1 drake, unless maybe some of the ones we think are ducks are just really really small compared to him, but the ducks just look different too. Lol I spent probably 20 minutes following them through the rhodos and wisteria trying to get them to line up like that. :)

Out of 13 hatched eggs, yup for sure now only one drake! Here are my girls older now, they are just over 16 weeks now. The white is really coming through on Jet the black pied, her dappeling is still quite noticable, and Echo the brown pied, is such a pretty girl lots of reds and pinks in the sunshine, she doesnt have nearly as much white coming through on her head and even more dappeling. And Clover my favorite, the white one she has so much personality she is still the odd one out, she's not related to the rest. They do let her hang out with them and swim and sleep together too they just pick on her.

They are beautiful love the coloring, now don't tell Going Quackers about your blessing of all girls and one boy, she does the opposite most hatches.

I'm having the same issue with sexing my Muscovy's. The are 13 weeks now so you would think it would be more obvious. The two largest ones (and I mean they were huge!) wound up being females. Both of them. I was so upset. Now we have 6 left and I'm not sure anymore. There is a definite size difference. I don't know how those two were females but they were. I don't know how to check vents so I'm not going to try. I only found out they were girls after they were butchered and cleaned. Real easy to tell then and by that time it's too late. We wanted to breed them so now I don't know what to do because I thought the large ones were males and the tiny ones were females. Apparently not so.

We ended up needing a DNA test to sex my Muscovy; she came from a bad place and was too fidgety to vent sex. She grew super fast, her carbuncles came in early, she had a very shiny coat and thick legs-- all signs of a drake. We were both relieved and grateful when she ended up being female; we were worried about overmating with the chickens. I don't think we've had a single bird who has the traits she is "supposed" to have.
