My rooster has some discharge from his ears. Won't let me clean them out or put medicine in. Any suggestions on hpw to hold his head still without hurting him or stressing him out? What is the best treatment for an ear infection?

He is eating drinking and acting normal

Here is a photo of his ear with the dark discharge

He lets me do practically anything to him but God forbid I touch his ears! Have to work on cleaning them out little at a time

If you have his feet tied together (not too tight) and towel wrapped around him and laying on one side; you can hold his head down with one hand while using your finger and thumb to pull back the ear flap to get access to the ear canal. Then use your other free hand to do what you have to do to clean out the ear canal. Sometimes they'll struggle abit, but soon wear out and calm down. Do NOT attempt to put anything in the ear canal while he's struggling.

Think his ear infection is tied to a respiratory infection. Didnt get much stuff out his ear. No heavy build up but he has a runny nose. Should I put him on antibiotics? He is still eating and drinking and acting fine

I had read through a few threads on this subject, and a few used antibiotic, but did not say which. Many recommend peroxide or vinegar in the ear, drying, then filling with Neosporin ointment. If it's respiratory, then most likely a drug such as oxytetracycline (terramycin), Tylan, spectinomycin, or lincomycin would work. Apparently there is one with a combo of the last 2 drugs mixed called LS 50 also.
