What color offspring would a black drake and a chocolate duck give please? I had a read through 'storeys guide to raising ducks' but it's still not making sense to me! Thanks.

Black Male x Chocolate Female = All black offspring.
Chocolate Male x Black Female = All Black males and All Chocolate Females

The chocolate male to black female is a sex linked mating, because of the brown dilution gene. Here is really good genetics calculator that I like to use when I am playing around with ideas.

This also works with Gold and Silver phase welsh harlequins. You can use a brown male (gold) over black females (silver) and the ducklings will all be gold hens and silver drakes.

No I think you would get pied chocolates. Our fawn and whites in the US are not the same as Fawn in the UK. I think you would Chocolates with runner pattern genes/pied. I think what is called Fawn & White in the UK looks more like our Pencilled & White Runners. The calculator is not a US version, it is based on European/Continental Colors. They try to get as close as possible with their "American Translations". I will double check, but am pretty sure I am correct. Chris & Mike Ashton have a wonderful book about colour breeding in Indian Runners. You can find it on Amazon or their UK site.
