This is the start of what's going to be basically a 10'x10'x10' tall chicken coop!! Pretty excited about starting this project. I have a good supply of pallets that are the same but to get those I have to take a few odds and ends along with me. I'm going to make the structure out of full pallets and the siding will be the 1x's. This is the plan anyway. If anyone has built a pallet coop or has any tips on this please fill me in. I will keep this thread going as a build along but not sure when I'm going to start. It may sound a little tacky building out of free pallets but I've seen some that turn out beautiful and very functional. Hope mine does!!

Hi there,
There is an article in Grit magazine about a guy building a pallet shed. It was fairly brief, but you might be able to get something out of it. I plan to build a shed next year and perhaps a chicken tractor - it will depend on my industry level

Good luck with your endeavor and let us know how it goes, Sue

Heck, do a search here:
advanced search>titles only>pallet coop

There's tons of them....some are really rough and some look like they used purchased dimensional lumber.

Good Luck...looking forward to seeing the progress, not matter how long it takes. Proper Prior Planning is a wonderful thing!

Got some work done today, cut up some pallets and starting to get a few good piles of siding.

Still trying to figure out what I want to do for the floor.

Wow, all free I'm hoping? There is nothing better than free building materials! I'm also considering using pallets (if I can find them for free) to build a coop, a rabbit hutch, and a bin for composting worms! Free is great! I would love to see what you managed to construct though!

Yes all free. Haven't had a whole lot of time to work on it. The weather has been crazy cold and blizzards hitting my area. I figured this spring once the weather turns I will start the construction on it. Try to find a factory they will be your best bet to get free pallets. Or company's that use fertilizer on lawns and landscaping. They will have pallets and those are usually the same size and in good shape. Please fill free to post on here if you start something with them. Thanks for the post!!
