Pallet coop

Awesome! My husband and I are in the process of building our own small pallet coop. I think it's a great way to give our chickens a home on a budget. We plan to use extra shingles we have for the roof so we only have cash in the screws and hinges & latches. After reading some of these posts I'm wondering if it would ve worth it coat it inside & out with a wood sealer. Any input?
This is what we have so far.

This looks great! How's your progress?

Here's our pallet coop after a coat of paint. The framing for the run actually is pallet material we found already assembled. Totally scored on that one. All free wood materials except a little plywood to make the 4th wall of the coop. I'm getting ready to cut windows/ventilation into the coop and finish tacking up the chicken wire and bird netting. All that is left after that is a small bit of tin for the roof, rocks along the bottom edge perimeter to deter predator digging, and a gate for the run. The wife will get going on the decor shortly after that. Total expense approx $70 (including the OOPS paint from Home Depot, $7)

hey great idea i just got my pile going and have been collecting them from all over town but i was just reading that some of the pallets are treated with chems that could eventually harm the chickens what do you guys think? would sealing the wood with wood sealant or finish do the trick to make it safe? maybe chickens wont be harmed? any help would be great

We used pallets on our coop, or our run rather. Just a few though, you can checkit out on my profile
