Pallet coop

Awesome! My husband and I are in the process of building our own small pallet coop. I think it's a great way to give our chickens a home on a budget. We plan to use extra shingles we have for the roof so we only have cash in the screws and hinges & latches. After reading some of these posts I'm wondering if it would ve worth it coat it inside & out with a wood sealer. Any input?

This is what we have so far.

A lot of places have to return them or pay for them and won't give them to you...or they hoard them for themselves....but some will, ya just gotta ask.

I would recommend searching Craigslist for "free pallets". I did this last week and found several places with piles of them free for the taking. When I'm nearby, I just stop and load up the truck with as many as can fit comfortably. I plan to make my third stop today, and that might get me enough to get started on our new coop.

I am using pallets for my second chicken pen. I am lucky enough to get them for free. In the process now on building, just waiting for sunshine.

It couldn't hurt. I am planning on doing it to mine.
