One of my turkeys has a large red bump on the side of her head. It is not draining or anything. What is it?

It looks like it is the beginning of a sinus infection which might be caused by a respiratory disease.

Here is a link to a list of poultry diseases that you can look through that might help you identify what you have http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

Im not sure. I have not touched it. Also, just found out that these 3 turkeys are apparently a butcher breed. :( Is it safe to eat a turkey that has a sinus infection? I had bought these for pets but don't want to see them suffer as they get to big so will probably have to give to someone for butcher. :(

Just examine for anything unusual when processing and cook thoroughly.

Keep a close eye on your other turks as respiratory illness is easily transmitted from one turk to another.

If you cook thoroughly, you should be ok. I can't imagine that commercial farms raise perfectly healthy birds, and they sell them to us anyways...
