Ok, I decided to supplement my Girls with home cooked beans: pintos, black beans, ect... What do you think? No real signs of distress, farting or the runs... So I figure, why not? Eggs are looking deep golden, orange and yummy.

What do you think?

as stated they have to be cooked, just like soy beans, I don't think chickens would eat raw beans if given a choice anyway, they don't really eat anything that's not good for them.

I gave mine some leftover lima beans & ham yesterday. The kind where they had become soft & mushy from being being reheated 3 or 4 times the past week and they went ape. Several cats were trying to eat out of the pan too and the chickens kept stepping on the cats heads and pushing their faces into the beans and the chickens would walk in the beans then step on the cats and the cats ended up totally covered in slimy bean gunk. It was funny as heck to watch.
