I don't know what to do! I woke up this morning to check on my mallard and I saw him up in his pen with his bill bleeding and broken. I brought him in and cleaned his bill with peroxide and applied pressure to try to stop the bleeding. Please help me, this duck is my best friend.. He follows me all around the farm and plays with my cats and dogs like he's one of them.
What can I do? Will he be able to live?? Any help is appreciated

Many ducks survive this kind of injury - let's see what we have.

The peroxide was good, let's switch to saline solution, and if you can afford and find it Vetericyn spray.

He will need nutrients in his water for a while, and soft food.

And I am sure you will be giving him TLC.

I would keep him in, and quiet for a while (maybe a few days)

Give him some tub time - lukewarm water - and look around for any other injury. When you can, check legs, vent, under the wings for any signs of puncture wounds. We don't want to miss those.

Oh my gosh thank you so much. I have posted a picture of it

Looks rough, and I think he can get through it, if all goes well.

Not a promise, but just my feeling.

Always best if you can get the duck to a veterinarian. They have equipment and also painkillers.

Yes vet care would be a good idea but beware they may say best to put him to sleep, so till you decide wash his bill off real good like Amiga said if you have Apple Cider Vinegar [very inexpensive at grocery store] add some to his drinking water 1-2 Tablespoons to 1 gallon of water this will kill some of the bactreia that has been itroduced into the wound by the coyote. He'll naturally wash his face with this solution and it is beneficial . Is he in shock? keep him in a warm place where it's quiet if in shock. Was he in a pen and they coyote got inside? you want to keep him warm and quiet but not hot. Please let us know how he is. And if you can get the Veterycin spray it's a great product for wounds and infections. TSC carries it.
