Please help! My duck was bitten on his bill by a coyote and I don't know what to do!!

Oww. X2 what Miss Lydia & Amiga wrote. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of the ACV & Saline water!! Do you know how to make your own Saline Water or do you have some?

@HollyDuckFarmer yes saline is just salt water right? And @Miss Lydia @Amiga I have this stuff called Wound-Kote.. Does that suffice????

Super gluecannot be used on the face. at the vets we used what we called "vet glue", a substance that kept wounds sealed and clean allowing air some through, and body absorbed as healed using for nutrients. expensive but so worth it, andladts so long as the tiniest bit seals great. hope your duck pulls through. watch out for return ofpreds if know was yote, as young out testing everything this Time of year and this year especially. They are many just pests, as weasels are doing most of what seeing like that. Train your dogs to patrol or be penned ect around your stock at night, make sure they aren't turning on them as some dogs do by night left free roaming.

i read a story in a poultry magazine about a chicken with a similar situation. There were pictures and it was very detailed. The top beak of the chicken was broken in half. The owner repaired it by using superglue with a piece of tea bag cloth. Eventually it healed, the tea bag cloth went away(decomposed, dissolved etc) and all ther was left was a good beak that looked like it had never been broken in the first place.

Once, one of my ducks got his eye poked at somehow. It was very bloody and gushy. Just make sure you keep the wounded area clean. I washed his eye daily and applied Vetricyn( i got 2 bottles free at a farm show). You could also use salt water to clean it. like my duck, it should heal eventually, but wont get back to the way it was before. The last picture at the bottom is how his eye looked after. He was blind in that eye but was fine otherwise. I hope your duck gets better

Yes saline is salt water and it can be buffered with baking soda to use in the eye area, but I don't think that matters at all in your case. Just mix up some salt water. I would look into the medical glue. I have seen fingernail repairs (on humans) with glue and coffee filters. It does work.

You know, you might check in with the folks on The Naural Chicken Keeping Thread to see if any of them have dealt with that issue.
