Wound on beak?

Hi,
My Autralorp has an odd looking thing on her beak. It looks like a wound. She's the top hen and went broody last summer, if that's relevant. Not sure what to think. And am worried I just suffocated her by putting some neosporin cream on it, About to go check on her. It is freezing cold where we are-down to 8 degrees.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what it might be?

As you can see from some of these links, this is not that unusual. It could be a cyst, a virus wart, or it could be a little scar from a cut on a waterer. One person reported that their chicken's lesion fell off after awhile. If you figure out the cause let us know.
