This year we are raising 27 Cornish X and 13 layers (to add to our existing flock). I finally put the finishing touches on the brooders. They had been sharing one brooder for a few days but the Cornish grow so fast and I need to restrict their feeding so the layers needed their own space. Once the Cornish feather they will move to the wood shed coop so that the layers can occupy the bigger brooder. Then it's out to the woodshed coop for the layers (after the Cornish have been butchered) and then it's into the big forest coop. It's like a bug game of musical coops!

Anyway, here are our finished brooders. My proudest moment: figuring out that the old fashioned adjustable curtain rods are great for raising the water dishes.

What did you put on the side of the dog kennel to keep the chicks in? Some kind of rigid plastic? Plexiglass?

I have the Great Dane version on your kennel and was going to put a box inside. I like your set up better. You have a very nice set up.
