Once a upon a time there was a silkie rooster named Sparta.
He ruled 3 hens named Whoopie, Sunshine, and the little gentle Starlit. Sparta made sure his hens were always safe from the mighty Duke. Duke was a bold eagle who ruled the Amazon woods. He was strong and fierce that even a hawk would scream.
I dont have a picture of Duke because he is not out yet. Sparta had to protect his flock everytime Duke flew past. Sparta loved Starlit the most and he protected her most. She was the queen of the flock. He would search all day looking for the yummiest bugs for his beloved hen.
He swore his heart that he would not let anything happen to his love. He also would not let anything happen to his other hens.

One spring day hatched little chicks under Starlit. Her and Sparta's dream came true. Months passed and the chicks had grown up and went to another castle. Sparta thought being a parent was tiring. He lay in the sun of a summer day. With his little queen starlit by his side. All the sudden a shadow came down. Sparta looked up, Duke had returned. Sparta made the alarm and all the chickens dived for cover. Starlit waited for Sparta. Feather flew everywhere as Duke screeched. Sparta got out of his hiding place. He looked around. Starlit was gone. The other hens came out. He crowed for his lost hen. Boking and clucking for his love. Then out of a bush a bloody lump of feathers lay on the ground. Duke had dropped starlit. She moved painfully, he boked with happiness and with sadness. I heard all the drama and ran outside and took starlit. I took her to the vet. They fixed her and gave her back to Sparta. i told him not to be to rough. Starlit is happy and healthy today. Heres a picture from today.

We have a new group of chicks.A larger male fought Sparta taking all the hens. Including Starlit. He is now the leader. Sparta sit alone planning out his attack. I will update you with more info.
