So I ordered 10 Muscovy ducklings and then got an offer for 12+ eggs so I accepted that as well. Very excited for both but now I am realizing I might not be set up right for hatching duck eggs.
I have a hovabator genesis with the digital control center and a little giant egg turner. Can I use the egg turner for Muscovy duck eggs? The reason I am asking is that the duck eggs are larger than chicken eggs and I am worried they will end up cracked or banged up from being in the turner made for chicken eggs.
Has anyone used this before?
Also does anyone have any brooder designs they have used for Muscovy ducklings that have worked well. I would love to see ideas that people have come up with. I have heard that they are very messy in their brooders. How do you set your brooders up and how often do you clean them out. My idea is to set them up inside the greenhouse so they will actually be on a dirt floor rather than shavings with grit feed and water. That way if they make a mess with the water it will just soak in to the ground and if the area gets too bad I can just move the whole set up to another area. Do you think this will work?
