Hi! My name is Jennifer and I'm the mom to 3 humans- Zach (12), Alexa (8), and Jason (6). I'm also the Grandmother to many hermit crabs, who, due to my severe allergies were the only pet I could tolerate (other then fish and frogs...wanted a turtle, but didn't go that route). We really wanted a pet and I had to think long and hard...and finally came up with chickens. There's a rental place around here...for schools, city/suburban folks who want to experience it, etc...so I figure we could check them out for a month and see what we thought...will the kids love them? will I be able to take of them? will the kids help? will my allergies be ok enough to tend to them? Well, we all fell in love. My crazy chicken lady friend convinced me to get chicks rather then our 4 hens that I like, but dont love. So, long story longer...with a bit of chicken math...I currently have 4 "laying" (loose term, as 1 or 2 arent laying squat!) rental hens and 6 chicks..which are supposed to be hens, but we shall see. So, that's me. I've got a ton of questions, and I've been asking away!
