I could use some help. I had 4 Ancona Duck eggs in my Brinsea set to hatch Sunday. One egg was wiggling like all get out at lock down. A day into lock down it stopped moving-I figured maybe resting-don't interfere. Well I waited and waited, two days after hatch date-I candled the eggs no movement. I did water test no movement. Sigh-they had all died.
Today I opened them. They were all dead. They looked fully developed except they did each have a fairly big yolk sack on them (about 2cm in diameter). No internal pips. I was wondering about shrink wrapped-but have no idea how to tell if they were?
Should that yolk have been gone? When do they finish absorbing that? I'd like to pinpoint when they died to help figure out when things went wrong. I'm wondering if perhaps they were a little delayed in development and then the lack of turning in lock down killed them?
I had humidity at about 40% during incubation, 70-80% at lock down.
I'm going to set some more today so would like to know if I should have done something differently. I'm so disappointed that they came so far and then died in the shell.
